After humble beginnings as a playing card company, forming as The Nintendo Playing Card Co in 1889, Nintendo started their innovative experimenting in 1956 by venturing into TV, Hotel Chains, Taxi Companies and even instant rice. It was 1975 that saw Nintendo move into the market we know them for today - Electronics.
The Magnavox Odyssey console was the first Video Game venture for Nintendo - they secured the rights to distribut it in 1975. From here they slowly progressed to releasing the Color TV Game in 1977, the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) in 1983, the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) in 1990, N64 (Nintendo 64) in 1996, Ninendo Gamecube in 2001 and most recently the Nintendo Wii in 2006.
